Prufrock

"Time for you and time for me"

Time is a very important in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. Eliot employs the element of time to represent how time limits love. Time is what is needed for love and with time love is possible. And with time, people could really rescend their faults. Time is of utmost importance to the world, with time one could find happiness, with time one could find love, with time one could find forgiveness. Time underscores the setting and place of events. Time can also bring an end to life, love, happiness. Without time love, happiness is impossible and with time love, happiness can happy; however, only for a limited time.

  1. I really like your idea here Johnny. You really develop the certain aspects time entails and after I finished the only question I had was "how does time effect Prufrock?" A few examples are where he mentions the grim reaper and when he questions his place on earth.

  2. Johnny your analysis of time in this paragraph is magnificent!! I really like how you describe the importance of time and the different opportunities one could experience with having time in ones grasp.
Also, to Thorir's question i believe time effects Prufrock in his inability to have any kind of relationship, and experience love, because of his futility. Prufrock realizes he cannot be his indecisive self for ever, which is constantly imposed by the burden of time.

  3. i guess my comment did not post, but i said how i liked how you use time as this perpetual force that we cannot escape for it affects all aspects of our lives, yet we keep trying to run from it. I also said how i felt that the author sometimes makes it seem that we have too much time.
